As we sail (or crawl) toward the end of 2018, take a moment to consider everything you have accomplished this year and give thanks.
Thankfully, my self-discovery journey helps me realize a truth beyond my inner critic's whispers... I don't want to just survive. I want to LIVE with joy, passion and daring. I pray I find a little more courage to step out and forward each day.
However, I cannot (nor should I try to) protect my boys against all threats or painful experience. If I continually shield and protect them from every hurt or from the ugliness in this world, I would be doing them a great disservice.
The book "The Subtle Art..." is worth a read as it presents some basic emotional intelligence concepts in a new relatable way with colorful language to entertain the reader.
With all the privileges we have, why is life satisfaction such an illusive target? We seek happiness through material goods and social standing comparing ourselves to others and constantly coming up short. We need to stop measuring the quality of our life with the "Joneses" matrix.
